Festivals: To Encourage, Educate, and Motivate!

The NFMC Festivals Program is designed to give Junior (age 18 and younger) and Adult member musicians of all abilities the opportunity to perform and receive a yearly evaluation in a non-competitive environment.   Participation in NFMC Festivals promotes music study, stimulates interest in the musical literature of both the USA and the world, and encourages each participant to reach a high standard of musical achievement.  The NFMC Festivals Cup Award Plan and Honor Certificates offer additional incentives to encourage continued participation in NFMC Festivals.

Dedicated to finding and fostering young musical talent, the NFMC conducts annual Junior Festivals with more than 117,000 participants.
Approximately 3600 students participate in Festival in Oregon each year.  Our mission statement with Festivals is to encourage student interest and involvement in music study, to educate through evaluation by qualified adjudicators, and to provide motivation for students to continue music study at a high level of musical achievement.
Please contact OFMC for more details about our Festival program.  We always welcome any general questions and suggestions that you may have.

Olivia Paulson started taking piano lessons from Sherrene Walker at the age of six as a kindergarten student.  From her very first lesson, Olivia exhibited a passion for piano music, eager to work hard and learn.  She began her Jr. Festival experience that very first spring.  Since then she has participated in Jr. Festival every year.  Since 6th grade, she has also participated in the concerto portion of Jr. Festival as well, totaling 13 years of solo participation and 6 years of concerto.  She has received superior ratings on all of these events except one Excellent in first grade!  This year she reached 93 points and received the President’s Cup!  This is the first President’s Gold Cup awarded by our district.
