Students who submit compositions will receive an evaluation from a qualified judge. First and second place winners in four age groups will be selected to go on to the western regional level for evaluation and potentially from there, to the national level for further evaluation.

Entrants must be studying with an OFMC member in good standing, or Join as an Individual Member during the application process.
Entrant may enter only one composition in their state Junior Composers Contest.

TYPE OF ENTRY:
Compositions may be for keyboard, voice, other instruments or any combination.
OFMC (STATE) AWARDS:
$35.00 Award for 1st place winners in each class.
1st and 2nd place winners in each class will be forwarded to the Western Region for further evaluation.
REGIONAL AWARDS:
Class I 2 – $ 100* awards
Class II 2 – $ 100* awards
Class III 3 – $100* awards
Class IV 3 – $ 100* awards
NATIONAL PRIZE AWARDS:
Junior Class I (ages 9 and under)
$150, $125 and two incentive awards at $100
Junior Class II (ages 10 – 12)
$175, $125 and two incentive awards at $100
Junior Class III (ages 13 – 15)
$225, $175 and three incentive awards at $125; & $150 John & Margaret Pierson Award
Junior Class IV (ages 16 – 18)
$300, $200 and four awards at $150;
$250 -Outstanding string composition;
$150 - Outstanding piano composition- Laura K. Wilson Memorial Award honoring Dorothy Dann Bullock, a past national president;
$150 Olga Klein Nelson Award
